Last friday (26th of October 2007), we had an one day trip to Hawar Island here in bahrain. Hawar Island is located 20 KM’s to the southeast of mainland of Bahrain. It was an anniversary recreation for all TCS guys here. As i am the odd man out in my office (LMRA), was invited and joined them. All i would say is it was an awesome trip and a great refreshment we had.
As the TCS employees were allowed to take their family people, some of them took. I just missed since i don’t have family here in bahrain 🙂 lol.. Lack of girlfriends too 🙂 Gotta improve!!
It was around an hour journey wherein first 20 minutes we travelled in bus from the hotel to a place called ‘Ad Dur Jetty’ where we boarded into the boat and from there on the journey in the boat took around 45 minutes.
We were told that we will be there for some 3-4 hours in the island and resort. I thought what would we gonna do within that time? But that was made false when we returned back. Within the allotted time, we bashed like anything in whatever possible ways and with the available resources.
When going in the boat towards island, we had ‘Anthaakshari’ (tamil, hindi, telugu and some arabic songs (!!) as well) amongst ourselves separated into two teams. It was all fun :). [Arabic was just prepared spontaneously by using the name of the malls, places, some junk words etc etc so as to match theirs as none of us don’t know].
Soon after reaching the resort, they had a lucky draw for all the participants and the kids were asked to take. It was for two people who were given 10 BDs (Bahraini Dhinars). I was not in need of money yesterday you know! 🙂
(1) Cano Boat – This looked like very simple but thats true once you get its principle. Its like really a full life and its principles. You need to get adjusted yourself to the frequency of water (life) and you can’t rest for so long. After reaching a certain point of time, you may have to again start working yourself for reaching your goals.
(2) Jet Ski – was awesome and a thrilling experience. Felt very enchanting as if getting into the new world. I rehearsed vairamuthu’s ‘Thanneer Desam’ novel and imagined his lines about the sea during the whole journey. wow.. that was an mindblowing experience..
(3) Beach Buggy – Though it looked like an ordinary motor bike riding, it really needed a very good understanding and practice as the front tyre and handle bar were large enough. If you think you are riding a bike and tend to get support with ur legs, you cannot ride the bike at all. Also you need to push urselves back in a comfortable manner especially for the tall people without which handling the steering is pretty difficult. I have done these two mistakes till the time i got acquainted.
Once nice comedy here. One of my teammates with whom i went for Jet Ski was very much scared of water and he could not ride well in the Jet Ski. Just before we booked the tickets for Beach Buggy, he was telling, “thannila thaan ennala onnum panna mudiyala.. tharaila paarunga annan veeratha” nnu. [I could not do anything in the water, but you see my power in the ground]. I thought he would really excel and do a fabulous job. But i saw one another person who was very much struggling in the beach buggy and he could not succeed at all. I got to know this after sometime once i was steady. It was none other than the same guy who was bellowing. Laughed out loudly after coming out and sharing this with other colleagues as well.
(4) Water Sliding – This was a fantabulous experience. I have seen this in movies but have not tried. A beautiful exercise as well. Moreover when you travel over the path and at times when you cant bend your body to the speed of water, here and there in the walls you hit, the little pain you get, the moment you expect when the traversal would finish, soon after you come down and jump into the pool.. words can’t just delineate.. it was all open for the wh0le passage. heard that some other places it would be totally covered. Leaving it to you to imagine yourself about the closed passage.
(5) Swimming pool – Same old. Just reminded me of the last year (31 July 2007) get together of our BE classmates which we had in the place called Anekal in Bangalore outskirts. Just were playing with the ball and making fun.
After returning from the swimmig pool, was supposed to face the same old incident which sometimes happens to me. missing something in the tour! ouch.. soon after coming out of the pool and i took all the belongings, forget to take my spex as it was not there. All the other belongings were kept safe in the same place but somehow it was missing. Once changed the dress, remembered and went back and searched and atlast found it missing successfully! Thought, “incident++”;. But somehow it was not as expected! :). One of the manager’s wife had seen it and kept it safely by thinking that it would be of any of our guys’s. Got to know that once i went back and enquired the crowd. Thank god! 🙂
On the way back, the sunset was so beautiful and almost around 10 cameras were busy and kept engaged in taking the sun, sea combination at various angles. The moment sun disappeared and the moon appeared on the other end was awesome! :). As compared to the earlier climate, nowadays its going in a reverse direction and you won’t believe by the time we got down it was around 5.30 PM and it was totally dark everywhere!
Felt very much tired and bcos of which got a great sleep as well.
Hope you found it interesting to read! 🙂
What do you think you can lose for the ‘love’? I would not say ‘sacrifice’ since i feel it has some implied meaning for a dedicated but noble cause. Beforehand i insinuate that i am not against ‘love’.
The main reason for blogging this is the hot news about tollywood megastar chiranjeevi’s younger daugher’s elope with his love and they got married in Delhi 2 days back. People who were not aware of this incident or would like to read about this, here you go..
you can read the article here in IBNLive wherein she said that she was under housearrest.
you can have a look at here for the exclusive interview she had given to the press.
I know every individual has their own views and arugments towards this love. But to what extent? I remember the same incident happened with Rajinikanth’s daugher Aishwarya with the actor Dhanush and by then it was like a cataylst for the magazines, newspapers, weeklies asking, “Will Rajini sustain his image by accepting his daugher’s love?”. Whatever happened, atlast they have succeeded. May be chiru’s daughter also might have done the same. But why couldn’t she just prolong the same struggle?
Ideally and generally, no parents are against their children. If at all they seem to be like so, its all because of the same old ‘society’ and ‘family values’ and on top of which the incidents they have been experiencing. What insipires the children to simply forget everything in a moment and just run away? If at all the education had been supporting indirectly by any chance, right from your very basic identity till the happen-to-get-blamed-education, you needed your parents for the same. Had you ever eloped in your childhood for your preferences being declined by your parents? Irrespective of your maturity level by then, you were not bold enough to take such a decision right. Why they alone should suffer, sacrifice for their children? Its after all the same body everyone is given, filled with blood, veins, feelings.. No one is an exception.
You could not even have a moment to just think of the entire journey your parents have come across for developing not only their images and whereabouts, also so much dreams and beliefs on you? Then what for the whole life is? Obviously any parent would seem to oppose initially when they hear from their kid saying that he/she has chosen their life partner. Definitely it would be because of the pain caused by their dreams demolished. I just felt bad for Chiranjeevi, for having had a well developed image. I don’t say that i pity him or his image would get spoiled. But he happens to face all those unnecessary intrusions by press, court, relatives etc.,
One good and bad thing is they are all celebrities. Once they offer themselves for the photo flashes, they are donated to media and publicity who are always willing to make use of these people atleast just to boost themselves. No matter your parents are well renowned or not, would not it set an example for others and inspire them?.
Well, you may ask one good question. “where is the life we wanted to live, if we keep considering others?”. Obviously it makes sense only when its considered for ‘others’. But the parents are not ‘others’ without whom you don’t have any colourful feathers!
Don’t you think it is an insane ? Adding to that i feel the whole point of you possessing the ‘maturity’ is an utter non-sense!
Just thought of sharing my views on this. Any comments/critics/counter arguments are most welcome! 🙂
If at all it invigorates atleast one person to think before they ink in future, my 50th post in this blog would get the credits by then!! 🙂
Long long ago so long ago was tagged by Ponnarasi. I am extremely sorry for delaying this long! 😦 Apologies.. [Sorry, was triggered to imitate your way. As a token of appreciation, copied your own sentence! he he he]
Well, this tagged post is all about 5 unknown things about me. Might be not every1 knows everything about us right.
For the people who feel bored of reading lengthy passages, you may please read the lines in bold. that will give you the hint. The rest, can continue as such.
1. I like the homely faces very much. Obviously seeing in the opposite sex! I believe its only female faces who are blessed with that fascinating nature. In tamil you can say, two words பெண்மை, நளினம் and those words are good when told in tamil itself. I relish, enjoy seeing those faces and somehow would get a very great satisfaction within. No matter where I am, what i do, would cherish those moments when i get a chance to sight :).
2. I have a very great respect, craze and jealousy towards the singers (though they are waiting to become popular even). somehow i feel this is one of the talents i lack. [i too sing but that is a different aspect. bcos of which how many hearts you attract is what here counts]. so hats off to all those people who are gifted by god.. keep rocking! a great fan of my friends who sing very well. [Arun, Sumi (Arun’s wife), Santa, Archana, Santa, Sundaresan]
3. From childhood, whenever i take a head bath and at times when i feel like pouring water forcibly on forehead, i assume myself getting drowned into the water.. especially into the sea water. Still i could see the effect remains, even though i somehow started taking bath in sea water when i go along with friends without knowing to swim properly. 🙂
4. I generally tend to investigate the root cause of any incident/problem. if at all don’t seem to get an answer will accelerate more towards finding the reason unless either of the parties seem to become sick. Because i feel thats the way you can get rid of it in future endeavors.
5. I would definitely let the kid inside me come out and start playing with the *real* kids whom i see. Also still savoring with the kiddish nature of my friends…Getting back to those ages and lose ourselves intentionally for a while for an unmolested state is an awesome experience. I swear no grown up children would oppose.
Good. Though the list may continue, i obey the things what i am asked to do as basically being a chuveet boy you know!! 🙂
Feeling relaxed now as one long pending homework is over now. lemme do for pria’s tag which is next in the list.
Now, let me invite some people here. I have a very little cognition about them as we got to know through blogs! so friends its your turn please.. u r granted to take ur own time..
if i think of some1 else would add later..if u urself are interested, pls feel free to ping me!
well, had been thinking nowadays to do a real good post as most of my posts made me think that its either a forward or a mokkai or a thambattam of any sort.. if not some poems or lyrics.. am i getting bored of these usual style? Not really! 🙂 but would like to do it differently.. lemme think.
meanwhile, by today i m completing 1 month here in bahrain as of today. Last month (September 18th) i came here.. somehow days are flying without control.. exact one month! i would say i have got accustomed to this environment nicely and got a good idea about the city eventhough there are many other parts of the city/country to be explored yet!
though thought of having an elobarate post but since it may mimic the previous version, left it.. so a quick short description here..
(i) we had attended one music concert happened on Oct 14th wherein the singers Hariharan and KS Chitra came. The evening program was very good and was nice seeing those people as well as listening to the songs live for the first time. They sang tamil, malayalam, hindi songs! shall share snaps link later. it would be in the same location where i have shared the snaps taken in bahrain.
(ii) got accustomed with these TCS guys here and work wise its really fun.
(iii) we had 5 days off for Ead celebrations here but to be frank, i have not done any good-and-useful thing except attending the musical event!
(iv) one thing is that i was busy preparing Java Slides for the fresh buds in my office as i was mentoring them. somehow my efforts were nice and they came in good flavour. yet to finish the rest-but-one topic.
(v) after ramzan/ead, happened to see the other face of the city which looked like dull, calm during ramzan. now much traffic but still the same rules are followed strictly! 🙂 This is like ‘citibank’ wherein ‘the citi never sleeps’. Till 1 or 2 AM all the shops are open here and people just casually roam here and there! 🙂
meet you all a little later with some good-but-different post!
Please join hands with me on wishing my dear friend “Prabhu Srikantan” on his birthday today, 12th of October!!
May this day be the initiating factor of all new betterments and sustaining factor of all existing traits and assets dear!
May the almighty shower his blessings on you by providing the EXCELLENCE in all your endeavors and give you the best what you deserve da..
Have an excellent, fun-filled, satisfied, successful year ahead…
Whatever it is, the moment you share it does matter right..? I feel so..
Just got to know that my name was in the list of lucky draw winners of the ‘Professional Apache Tomcat 6’ book in the JavaRanch forum. [Tomcat is a Web Server used for hosting J2EE based Web Applications. ]
Here you go…
I repeat it, its lucky, lucky draw – purely.
Felt very happy and thought of sharing it with you. I too have some lucky mole(s) i guess!
As usual, pasting the screenshot here.. he he he… 🙂
I have uploaded some of the snaps taken in Bahrain. As such, there are 4 albums namely
(i) Elite1, Bahrain (Taken at ‘Elite Residency’ – Elite1 is one of the many hotels this Elite Group of Companies have)
(ii) Visit to Yateem Center, Manama (its a Shopping Mall).
(iii) taken at LMRA Office (our client office)
(iv) taken at Arabian Palace (where the TCS guys stay and with whom i work here) during the Twenty20 Finals India-Pak match…
I tried doing it in flickr first and then switched to Picasa as i had some limitations in flickr. Thanks to my friend Dhananjeyan who suggested me in the right time (in the mid of it) and i changed to google picasaweb. As usual, Google rocks and hats off to them!
The snaps/albums are available for your perusal at :
Flickr -> http://www.flickr.com/photos/itsraghz/sets/ [Ma Maiden Effort!]
Pick your favorite. Google has the full set though.
I started giving the comments in the ‘description’ section of each snap in flickr at first. In the middle, changed my mind and commented in the snaps itself. for some of the snaps which initially uploaded in flickr, could not have the snaps in the image itself as it was a part of flickr album. shall have to merge! 🙂
Hope you too enjoy it. I am yet to cover the beauty of the city.
Chalo.. Rest in next……………….

I got this message from one of my friend and found worth to share across…….Please read thru !!!
Please refrain from giving B’Day Bumps
For all of us, birthdays are a time for celebrations, parties and bonhomie. There’s cake to go around and we all love receiving gifts from our friends and family on our special day.
But something rather disturbing has come to my notice in the past few months. This was a rare scenario years earlier … but now the same seems to be a norm !!! A very hurtful and potential dangerous way to wish someone – with birthday bumps.
When giving someone a birthday bump, you are targeting one of the most sensitive parts – the Back.
Birthday Bumps – Witnessed anywhere always brings back one particular college memory of mine.
There was a colleague of mine in college who stood witness to one of such events at his 20 th Birthday in College. It was his last birthday on his legs – Standing …..
He has been bed ridden now … for almost 3 years …..
Courtesy : One Hard Blow at his back during one of the Birthday bumps ceremony and he is paralyzed in the lower part of his body for the rest of his life probably ( May God forbid)
So My Frnds ……Before you raise your leg to hit someone, remember that even a little margin of error can cause a lot of damage to the spinal cord. One wrong blow on a sensitive spot could prove to be fatal for the recipient.
So next time you’re tempted to use this method of wishing, it’s time to pause and think again.
Folks, why hurt someone on their special day?
I’d like to request all of you to be a little more considerate and celebrate this happy occasion without causing anyone any harm. Let’s make it a great day for our frnds – one they’ll remember for the right reasons.

Courtesy: Thanks to my friends Archana Muralidharan and Viji Rajesh for keeping me in their mailing list through which I got to receive this information.
Whatever it is, I felt so happy after reading the post because of the following points:
- I never get involved in these activities eventhough our college life was not an exception to these celebrations.
- I do personally believe that ‘the Birthday is very special to every individual!’. So,why making them suffer on that auspicious day?
- Despite getting involved in a little debate with the buddies who contend their ‘Birthday bumps’, got a conclusion that I could not change them definitely.
But I am sure this mail would indeed take a chance.
Please let all your buddies know about this and let’s have the celebrations for a REAL “Happy Birthday”!
Had done my first Java Program on Linux Platform.
The same old ‘Hello World!‘ application i have run on Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server 4 edition) today 14th October 2007 2 PM AST (Arabia Standard Time).
This had been pestering me for so long as we say that we working on a cross-platform or platform neutral technology but had not ever tried working on other platforms except the Grand Master ‘Windows’.
Today, the day had come to fullfill the dreams…
Just pasting the screenshots here 😉

Way to go Raghs.. 🙂
A man and his girlfriend were married. It was a large celebration. All of their friends and family came to see the lovely ceremony and to partake of the festivities and celebrations. A wonderful time was had by all. The bride was gorgeous in her white wedding gown and the groom was very dashing in his black tuxedo.
Everyone could tell that the love they had for each other was true.
A few months later, the wife comes to the husband with a proposal: “I read in a magazine, a while ago, about how we can strengthen our marriage.” she offered.
“Each of us will write a list of the things that we find a bit annoying with the other person. Then, we can talk about how we can fix them together and make our lives happier together.”
The husband agreed. So each of them went to a separate room in the house and thought of the things that annoyed them about the other. They thought about this question for the rest of the day and wrote down what they came up with. The next morning, at the breakfast table, they decided that they would go over their lists..
“I’ll start,” offered the wife. She took out her list. It had many items on it. Enough to fill 3 pages, in fact. As she started reading the list of the little annoyances, she noticed that tears were starting to appear in her husband’s eyes.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
“Nothing” the husband replied, “keep reading your list..”
The wife continued to read until she had read all three pages to her husband. She neatly placed her list on the table and folded her hands over top of it. “Now, you read your list and then we’ll talk about the things on both of our lists.” She said happily.
Quietly the husband stated, “I don’t have anything on my list. I think that you are perfect the way that you are. I don’t want you to change anything for me. You are lovely and wonderful and I wouldn’t want to try and change anything about you.”
The wife, touched by his honesty and the depth of his love for her and his acceptance of her, turned her head and wept.
IN LIFE, there are enough times when we are disappointed, depressed and annoyed. We don’t really have to go looking for them. We have a wonderful world that is full of beauty, light and promise. Why waste time in this world looking for the bad, disappointing or annoying when we can look around us, and see the wondrous things before us..?
I believe that WE ARE HAPPIEST WHEN we see and praise the good and try our best to forget the bad. Nobody’s perfect but we can find perfectness in them to change the way we see them.
– We are not trying to condone what is bad. Correction does much, but encouragement does more.
“The blue of heaven is larger than the clouds . . .”
Courtesy: Thanks to my friend Archana Muralidharan for sharing this through an e-mail.
Need i say anything more? I am sure you would have definitely enjoyed reading it. Though to all of us, it looks so nice while imagining the husband’s role with us, it definitely comes through PRACTICE! Not just by thinking and accepting. Aint I? So, lets start….
